1 of 1
Repaired and Refurbished Ludwig fiberglass set of four Professional Series timpani: 32?, 29?, 26?, 23?. With New Renaissance Extended Heads:The fiberglass suspended bowls with external spider rods and extended collars have been reconditioned and are finished in an acrylic copper color. The struts, bases, and support rings have all been powder coated. (prepared by Custom Timpani, Fullerton, ND.) Repair and refurbishing has been done here in Enumclaw by Paul T. Jackson. The timpani are complete with new Renaissance heads and replaced correct size caster wheels. The timpani have been completely balance adjusted for good pedal action.Bowls? suspensions have been adjusted and firmed with rubber spacers so as to sit correctly and not shift off center easily.Metal head bearing edges have been refurbished; sanded and steel-wooled smooth. New Teflon tape has been applied to edges for smoother tuning and less wear on the heads, except the 23? (it didn?t sound good with the tape, so I removed it and steel-wooled the bearing edges to a fine velvet surface and greased with silicone.)Felt has been attached to the underside of the counter hoops so no metal to metal snapping sound happens when tuning.Rubber bumpers have been attached to the bottom of the heel arm to reduce tendency for forward motion of the timpani while tuning. They also keep the heads level for better forward sound. Some breaks on bases (due to shipping improperly) have been expertly welded by a metal engineering firm.Handmade thick head protectors are included with fleece on the bottom (head side) to avoid scratches to the heads, and water resistant coating on top. Here is a chance to get an excellent set of timpani at a great price. I have performed with these many times for orchestral, brass, and small ensembles, and the Issaquah Philharmonic. These are very resonating, similar to the more expensive sets. With having access to other sets, and I can no longer justify keeping this set, although prefer it to others available to me.
